Wood Stove Program ending soon

If you live in the Tacoma-Pierce County Smoke Reduction Zone, time is running out to take advantage of the Wood Stove Program.

Since October 2015, it is no longer legal to own or operate an old, uncertified wood stove or fireplace insert (usually older than 25 years old) within the Tacoma-Pierce County Smoke Reduction Zone. This rule requires any wood stove or fireplace insert that is not EPA certified to be removed and recycled, or rendered inoperable.

Money is available to help Zone residents recycle or replace their old, polluting wood stove or fireplace insert. But funding won't last much longer!
