Strategic Plan

Our Board of Directors adopted the 2014 to 2020 Strategic Plan (PDF) in the Spring of 2014. This plan sets the tone for the several years and outlines the methods we will use to achieve clean healthy air for everyone in our jurisdiction, all the time.

Commitments

Over the next seven years, we commit to:

  • Be good and wise stewards of the resources you give us
  • Defend the future
  • Prevent and reduce risk to you by upholding and enforcing the law
  • Protect you from air pollution
  • Tell you what’s in the air you are breathing

New Strategic Plan

In April 2021, the Agency began discussions to develop its next strategic plan.

The links below show materials from the Agency's Board of Directors meetings on this topic. We will continue to update this list as the process continues.

  • April 2021 Board meeting – Initial discussion of new strategic plan timeline and process, and “State of the Airshed” overview. The “State of the Airshed” is a series of briefings that summarize lessons learned under the 2014-2020 strategic plan.
  • May 2021 Board meeting – Discussion of input received from the Board and Advisory Council on the new plan's timeline and process, and initial “State of the Airshed” briefing. This briefing covered the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) health-based national ambient air quality standards, and how the Puget Sound region’s air quality compared to those standards from 2014-2020.
  • June 2021 Board meeting Discussion on the Agency's timeline to update the strategic plan and second "State of the Airshed" briefing. This briefing covered how the Agency fared in its objectives to reduce transportation emissions and address climate change.
